The Energy Star Label: What It Is and Why It’s Important

In 2016, Americans bought over 300 million ENERGY STAR® products. In fact, the U.S. sees 800,000 certified products sold every day, bringing the total number of ENERGY STAR-labeled products sold to over 5.8 billion since 1992. So what is ENERGY STAR  in the first place? One of the leading electric panel companies in the state, All Seasons, Inc. explains more.

The ENERGY STAR Label

A universally known symbol for energy efficiency backed by the U.S. government, the ENERGY STAR label provides simple but credible information on energy-efficient products. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) assesses these products based on certain principles, such as:

  • That a product must provide significant energy savings wherever it is used;
  • That a product features widely available technology; and
  • That a product’s performance and energy consumption are measurable and verifiable.

Thousands of companies, including furnace companies, are part of the EPA program, helping American families and businesses save over $450 billion since it was established in 1992 with their energy-efficient solutions. Monitors and computers were the first products to receive the ENERGY STAR label, but now certified products include residential heating and cooling equipment, major appliances, home electronics, lighting and even whole new homes.

Why It’s Important

The ENERGY STAR label signifies which products are energy-efficient, consequently pointing to which products are worth investing in for your home. There are a lot of products out there, after all, and the distinctive blue-and-white mark helps in simplifying the selection process. With 90% of U.S. households recognizing it, it’s one of the most recognizable of consumer symbols in the country.

As one of the most trusted air conditioning companies around, All Seasons, Inc. is proud to offer reliable energy-efficient solutions for your home. No two homes will ever be exactly the same so you can count on us to provide you with products and services that will address your unique needs.
